Obama needs to get on a plane to Michigan today...

We, the democratic party, can win Michigan in November...but it will be easier if Senator Obama flys up there today or some time this week and does this....after the jump...

Obama can up his cred in Michigan and take away repub talking points by getting to the state ASAP and accepting some compromise that gets Michigan delegates seated...

He should say, "I love the great state of Michigan. A state full of strong, hard working Americans. We need them this November, just like they need a democratic president this November to start undoing all the harm Bush and McCain have done over the last 8 years. I love the American auto industry and want to see the Big 3 expand and grow and not only compete, but hopefully dominate once again in the automotive markets. Heck I remember riding around in the family car, a -------, as a kid. America, hell Detroit!, made, makes and will continue making the best cars in the world. Michigan is a great and an Important state. So I am here today to accept a compromise that seats the Michigan delegates and gives a voice back to the Michigan people."

Now how the compromise works is hashed out by the big wigs...i kinda think the delegates should be cut in half like the repubs did to theirs...after all there needs to be some punishment...i actually like the idea of not cutting the delegates in half (painful and messy...ha) as the people shouldn't be punished...i like have all the supers of Michigan and Florida stripped instead...but whatever...

Basically Obama can lose 10 or even 20 delegates in Michigan and be fine...heck if he does this i expect 10 to 20 super delegates will jump on board the same day...and it will show both unity and Obama being presidential. He gives up a few pledged delegates, but gains them right back with supers...and he looks strong and Presidential doing it.

Then he does the same thing in Florida (which will hurt a bit more in delegates...which is the one reason why maybe the delegates should be cut in half as punishment).

all in all it should be good press and good for getting supers to back him that might be sitting on the fence.

ps...what i would also love is to write Clinton's speech tonight in West Virginia...a dream i know, but it would go like this: "I ask all of the people who want to vote for me this election to instead vote for Senator Obama. Please remember what is important here. We don't need a Clinton as president. We don't need an Obama as president. What we need, and what this country needs desperately is a Democrat as President. What this country desperately DOESN'T need is 4 more years of George Bush, and that is exactly what we will get with McCain. So please vote and vote proudly for the next President of the United States...Barack Obama."
